Electrical Engineer - Position Summary
Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for transforming product specifications and high-level architecture into the tangible design, development, and technical documentation of new A/V equipment, LCD monitors, and cabin management systems.
As a part of the Electrical Engineering team, you will be tasked with developing circuit card assemblies and/or FPGA firmware for in-flight cabin entertainment as well as military display solutions.
Leads development of circuit card assemblies and/or FPGA firmware for in-flight entertainment and military rugged display systems.
Uses ECAD tools, scripting, and advanced methodologies to develop electrical drawing packages including schematic, layout, bill of materials, and fabrication drawings.
Assists in a requirements-based-design flow from concept to qualification.
Facilitates in-flight entertainment and cabin management systems through to initial production. At times, overseeing the effort of 3rd party manufacturing centers.
Generates Engineering Change Notices (ECN) to enhance and maintain existing products.
Architects new products and assists with bid and proposal efforts.
Demonstrates proactivness and ingenuity toward overcoming design roadblocks.

Qualified candidates will possess:
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other relevant disciplines.
Plus a minimum of 6-8 years’ relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in circuit card design
Experience developing in the avionics industry preferred.
Proven ability to design for military and commercial avionics manufacturing environment. The following standards apply: RTCA/DO-160G, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, MIL-L-85762A/MIL-STD-3009, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-STD-1472.
Development success through the full product lifecycle: from requirements capture to manufacturing and sustainment.
In-depth understanding of electronics design, including understanding of video systems and power supply design.
Experience with displays, optical designs, LCD stack-ups, and lighting is a bonus.
Preference towards scripting or programming to create engineering aid tools is a bonus.
Experience with analog design, including power supplies, is a bonus.
Experience with schematic capture and layout of high speed digital systems is a bonus.
Successful completion of FCC and UL certification is a plus.
Proficient with EDA capture and layout tools such as Altium Designer Suite.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Perl, C/C++, and/or VB is a plus.
Understanding of manufacturing systems such as ERP is a plus.
Experience and Understanding of:
ECAD development and simulation tools including Altium Designer and PSPICE.
FPGA simulation and synthesis using Intel or Xilinx FPGAs.
Wired communications, including SPI/I2C, CAN, CAN-FD, USB, ARINC-429, etc.
Wireless communications, including Bluetooth, NFC, and 802.11 WiFi.
Video and audio standards, including LVDS, 3G HD-SDI, HDMI/DVI, DisplayPort, etc. and analog or S/PDIF audio.
Avionics Industry Standards:

This position typically does not have supervisory responsibilities.
